Mollarri mineral loading port

Take in impressive views over the sea and Getaria and take a trip back in time to Zarautz’s industrial past.  The Mollarri loading port was built in 1906 to ship minerals from the Asteasu mines. Iron was transported 11 km in wagons along an aerial tramway held up by 112 posts. The port was closed in 1923 due to the state of the loading berths, among other matters. It has since been partially reconstructed and offers a unique glimpse of the tough work once carried out there.
