San Pelaio - 26th June
Zarautz kicks off its celebrations with a bang on 25th June. On the eve of San Pelayo and on the day the town is filled with the sound of drumming, first the children in the afternoon followed by adults at night. San Pelayo is celebrated on the 26th with a number of activities including giants and cabezudos, groups of friends wearing traditional shirts and a fabulous party atmosphere. And don’t miss the pilgrimage in Iñurritza.
The 27th marks the Oilasko Bilketa festivities, when single boys and girls visit local country houses accompanied by musicians playing the txistu (a Basque flute) and accordion to gather money for the next day's lunch.
