Hands on the steering wheel and after only 5 or 10 minutes of pleasant driving you can complete your visit to Zarautz by discovering the surrounding region.

In Getaria, birthplace of Juan Sebastian Elcano, who was among the first sailors to travel around the world, you can find the Cristóbal Balenciaga Musem where you can find out whyhe was called the architect of fashion.

In Zumaia, the Basque Coast Geopark with its flysch. You will be astonished by the verticality of the rocks that tell the story of our planet. Observe it from a boat or walking along the hiking trails.

Going inland, in Aia, the Pagoeta Natural Park offers the opportunity to hike in the countryside where a foundry from the eighteenth century or windmills can be found.

And Orio, with its steep streets and its estuary, is the perfect setting to taste the delicious grilled sea bream, the specialty of the town.



Zarautz is located on the coast of Basque Country, a small country with a strong identity, from where a visit to any one of the provincial capitals of Bilbao, San Sebastián and Vitoria-Gasteiz, is easily within reach.

The Guggenheim Museum or the Puente Colgante (Suspension Bridge), a UNESCO World Heritage cultural site, are only the tip of the iceberg that the modern and cosmopolitan Bilbao has to offer.

The other capital on the coast, San Sebastián, radiates culture, the beauty of La Concha bay and shines with many Michelin star restaurants. The capital of Basque Country, Vitoria-Gasteiz, is European Green Capital due to the large Green Ring that surrounds it. It also has a great historic heritage such as the Santa María Cathedral.

Near Zarautz there is also the French Basque Country. Biarritz, Bayonne, Saint Jean Pied de Port…small and beautiful villages where the Basque and the French cultures blend in a unique way.
